History

The Clare Valley Bone Meetings, held March 2000-2018

The Clare Valley Bone Meetings aim to bring together clinicians, basic scientists and representatives of industry research and development, in the field of Bone and Joint. This has been achieved in 10 exciting meetings to date, around comprehensive programs, which over 20 years now have included almost all the topical areas in bone and joint research. The meetings have featured prominent experts from Australia and overseas. In fact, the list of international and national speakers who have attended the meetings over the years reads as the ‘Who’s Who’ of bone research (see list of international invitees below). The meetings are deliberately small, with 60-80 participants, which has enabled meaningful interaction between participants. They have been particularly successful in achieving our dual purpose of acquainting scientists with clinical realities, and clinicians with new understanding from research. Because this is a different kind of meeting, participants receive insights across research disciplines and endeavours that are unlikely to be gained in their normal academic calendars. Our feedback enthusiastically tells us that participants learn new things and make new contacts, which over and again have positive impacts on their research and clinical endeavours. We look forward to the next Clare Valley Bone meeting in 2020!
